One of the basic forms of labeling a product<\/b> is to cover it with a self-adhesive label<\/a> with a barcode<\/a>. Depending on the type of barcode used (the organization that deals with the standardization of barcodes is GS1), you will find information about the product index number, but also other interesting data<\/b>, such as expiration dates or serial number.<\/p>

Specialized label printers<\/a> that allow printing on roll material (this is the form in which self-adhesive labels are produced) are used to apply the barcode to the label. The barcode is read at each successive stage of production<\/b>, and the data from the reading, combined with relevant production parameters, are stored in the information system<\/b>.<\/p>

The product label accompanies the product all the way to the final stage of the “journey,” through the entire supply chain<\/b>, and can be used for back-tracking in case of complaints or product concerns. To read the barcode in the supply chain, code scanners<\/a> or data collectors<\/a> (microcomputers equipped with a barcode reader) are used.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

If the barcode proves insufficient to mark your product (there may be several reasons: from insufficient information contained in the code, to the difficulty of reading it, to the need for more permanent marking), several other marking techniques that can be used in a traceability system<\/b> will apply.<\/p>

One technology is the use of a 2D code, or QR code.<\/b> A 2D code<\/a> provides greater security for the data contained in its structure. An additional advantage is that it can be read in the case of a partially damaged label.<\/p>
