What is wayfinding?
What makes people find some spaces better, while they wander through others like a maze?
This is due to wayfinding, which translates from English as “wayfinding.” Wayfinding is a system of signage that makes it easier to get to your destination. We use it in both open and closed spaces. In simple terms, it can be compared to road signs. Thanks to them, drivers who are in a certain place for the first time find their way without much trouble. It is also easy to imagine what would happen if the signs were missing.
The same is true in warehouse spaces, schools, hospitals, office buildings, residential buildings or shopping malls. Directional signage is essential to navigate efficiently in these spaces.
What media does wayfinding use?
Signage for an office, warehouse, production hall or other type of space is primarily standing signs (pylons) and wall signs. In larger spaces, hanging signs, side wall signs or painted graphics are good options. At this stage, it may seem that interior and exterior signage is not particularly demanding. However, while the preparation of the signs or boards themselves does not really pose much of a problem, the layout of them is already a much bigger challenge.
