CAB IXOR+ Automatic Labeling Heads

CAB IXOR+ are industrial labeling heads designed for fast and precise application of labels to products, packaging, and components. Their modular design allows the device to be tailored to the required throughput, material width, and method of integration into the production line. Depending on the configuration , the IXOR+ can operate at speeds of up to 120 m/min, and up to 200 m/min upon request, making it suitable for demanding, high-throughput industrial processes.

High-speed labeling synchronized with the production line

The CAB IXOR+ was designed for processes where not only automation but also high speed and repeatability in label application are essential.

Depending on the configuration of the material-feeding system, the head can achieve:

  • up to 50 m/min with a mechanical unwinder and rewinder,
  • up to 75 m/min with a mechanical unwinder and a powered rewinder,
  • up to 120 m/min with a powered unwinder and rewinder,
  • up to 200 m/min in a configuration available upon request.

The label feed speed can be synchronized with the actual speed of the product being conveyed using an encoder. This is particularly important on lines where the conveyor speed varies during operation.

The IXOR+ automatic applicator can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and the material can be fed to the left or right. This allows the device to be adapted to the design of a specific machine and the direction of product flow.

Modular design tailored to the process

In the IXOR+, the base unit, the unwinder, and the rewinder form a modular system whose configuration can be tailored to the requirements of a specific application.

Depending on the expected throughput, mechanical or motor-driven unwinding and winding units can be used. Individual modules can be arranged according to the machine’s design and, in certain configurations, mounted independently of the base unit.

This makes it possible to set up both a relatively compact station for standard automatic labeling and a sophisticated system designed for high-speed production lines.

Large rolls of material and motor-driven unwinding and rewinding modules reduce the need for operator intervention and help maintain stable material tension during high-speed operation.

The maximum speed depends on the configuration used for unwinding and rewinding the material, not just on the width of the machine.

The IXOR+ can handle paper labels as well as synthetic materials, including PET, PE, PP, and PVC. For very small labels, thin substrates, or materials that use a strong adhesive, it is advisable to conduct an application test beforehand.

High efficiency and process continuity

CAB Label Applicator Production Line

IXOR+ combines high operating speeds with solutions designed for demanding industrial environments.

The main advantages of the print head are:

  • material feed speed up to 120 m/min, and up to 200 m/min upon request,
  • the ability to synchronize with the product’s speed,
  • modular design of the unwinder, rewinder, and base unit,
  • handling of large rolls of material,
  • can be mounted vertically or horizontally,
  • feeding labels to the left or to the right,
  • IP66 protection rating,
  • integration with PLCs and automation systems,
  • the option to expand to a Print & Apply system,
  • extensive diagnostic features and remote access.

In processes where a stoppage of the labeling head brings the entire line to a halt, it is also possible to use a redundant system.

Two IXOR+ print heads can operate on the same network. One performs the current labeling task, while the other remains on standby and can take over the process—for example, when the material runs out or if a problem occurs with the first device.

IXOR+ as a Print & Apply system

Photo of the design of the gates

The CAB IXOR+ can be expanded with the PX QS printing module, creating a solution in which the label is printed immediately before being automatically applied to the product.

This allows you to populate pre-prepared labels with current variable data, such as:

  • lot numbers and serial numbers,
  • date of manufacture,
  • logistics information,
  • barcodes,
  • 2D codes,
  • product identification information.

The printing module works in conjunction with the material loop control system, allowing the printing process to be synchronized with the operation of the labeling head.

In this way, the IXOR+ can function both as a standalone printhead that automatically applies pre-printed labels and as part of a complete Print & Apply solution.

Adjusting the Label Application Method

IXOR+ can work with various components responsible for final guidance and material application.

Available components include pressure rollers, brushes, guide modules, label and product sensors, and encoders. This allows the application method to be tailored to the product’s geometry, label type, process speed, and the required label position.

Pressure rollers can be adjusted relative to the label peel-off point and the product surface. Specialized variants are also available, including silicone rollers designed for specific applications in the food industry and cleanroom environments.

High-precision sensors enable label position detection and material feed control even in more demanding applications.

Integration with Automation, Control, and Diagnostics

The CAB IXOR+ is designed to function as an integral part of a logistics automation system or production line.

The device offers interfaces that enable communication with sensors, encoders, PLCs, and master systems. Industrial communication protocols are also available, including MQTT, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, and PROFINET.

The system can exchange information regarding the start of the process, device readiness, missing labels, end of material, and any errors that occur.

The color touchscreen allows you to configure, among other things, material speed, synchronization with the product, label position, start delays, and parameters for a specific format.

A web interface, an event log, and remote diagnostics capabilities are also available. This makes it easier to monitor the device, even when it is integrated into a larger machine.

How do I choose the right CAB IXOR+ configuration?

Warehouse manager against the background of the hall - photo by HKK Group representative

For the IXOR+, the configuration should be based primarily on the required process speed and the characteristics of the label material.

When selecting a solution, we analyze:

  • label width and length,
  • type and thickness of the material,
  • the diameter and mass of the roll,
  • product transport speed,
  • the required process efficiency,
  • the method of unwinding and winding the material,
  • installation position and feed direction,
  • method of applying the label,
  • the need for synchronization with the encoder,
  • communication with a PLC or a master system,
  • the need for redundancy,
  • a possible upgrade to include the PX QS printing module,
  • Environmental conditions in the workplace.

HKK Group can help you select the printhead, unwinder and rewinder, application components, sensors, assembly system, and the method of communication with the production line.

For unusual materials or particularly demanding processes, it is a good idea to conduct tests using actual labels before implementation.
