Children who cannot yet read recognize space mainly through colors, symbols and illustrations. That’s why cheerful pictograms, such as icons of animals, toys or colorful group markings dominate in kindergartens. Such a system promotes the child’s independence and gives the space a warm, friendly character.
The informational signage itself, in this case, should be tailored especially to the youngest and harmonize with the adopted theme. Larger fonts, clear and unambiguous messages, as well as universal symbolism, are of great importance here.

Signage in schools plays many roles simultaneously – from informational and housekeeping functions, to supporting safety and traffic management in the building, as well as the immediate surroundings. Unlike in kindergartens, where the message must be largely pictorial, in schools it is already necessary to take into account the varying perceptions of students of different ages – from early grades to older adolescents.
