Key information:
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin word of the year 2024
Have you wondered what slogan or issue will become the word of the year for 2024?
In our opinion, of course, it will be artificial intelligence. It is machine learning algorithms that will make it possible for a large part of the activities performed by humans today, to be performed by computers.
Already, the quality of text translations made by AI is truly outstanding.
The same is true for other functionalities such as rendering videos and photos, developing diet plans, and creating analytical studies based on the information gathered.
Generative AI supports us both in our professional lives and (perhaps even more) in our private lives.
But what to expect in the area of advanced economic processes, such as the operation of complex factories or warehouses.
Will artificial intelligence make itself at home in these areas as well?
Factory and warehouse of the future: data, intelligent decision-making model, digital reflection of reality.
As we see it, the element that binds together intelligent decision-making models and the vast amount of data flowing in from all kinds of sources (machines, employees, sensors related to building operations or information from suppliers) is the digital twin.
It is software that faithfully reflects manufacturing reality, created, among other things, to test the effects of decisions under safe (simulated) conditions.
In order to realize how the digital twin works, it is worth noting how the cab ordering app works….
Ordering a cab through the app? You're using a digital twin!
The user of the cab ordering application with a single click starts the process of finding a carrier that will transport the ordering party on a predefined route.
During the waiting period for ride confirmation, the system (which is nothing more than a digital twin) creates route simulations, analyzes data from nearby drivers, takes into account the traffic situation and its impact on travel times, adjusts the price of the ride according to current demand and supply, and finally gives the customer a choice between two/three ride options.
Our companies will soon function in a similar way. IT support will allow decision-making managers to familiarize themselves with the potential “consequences” of the implementation of various scenarios, while selecting such configurations of a given action that will coincide with the company’s goal.
As we see it, the element that binds together intelligent decision-making models and the vast amount of data flowing in from all sorts of sources (machines, employees, sensors related to building operations or information from suppliers) is the digital twin.
Digit.IO Factory - our digital twin
Over the past years, with the support of our partners from NCBiR and Poznan University of Technology, we have developed Digital Twin class software to support decision-making in manufacturing organizations.
We independently expanded the scope of our solution also to the area of warehouse logistics, creating an integrated support platform for modern business.
Our expertise allows us to implement software designed to enable replication of physical processes in a digital environment, but also to prepare companies for this process by:
- Designing a system for collecting sensor data.
- Support processes by implementing RFID, barcode and 2D code technologies and analyzing the data collected during the operation of such solutions to link them to the digital twin model .
- Conceptual support at the stage of organizing material circulation for logistics and manufacturing companies.
Digit.IO platform elements:
WMS system (warehouse management system) is a solution that supports the operation of the warehouse in both the finished goods area and the production area.
The basic tasks of the WMS system include control over the processes of receiving, storage, picking and shipping. The course of these operations is supported by barcode technology, which gives the possibility of instant identification of goods, raw materials, storage locations, and also improves the labeling process.
Intelligent Scheduling on the Digit.IO platform, is an advanced tool for intelligent production scheduling, which is based on the digital twin (digital twin) mechanism .
The scheduling system analyzes multiple production scenarios each time, selecting the one that will lead to the best possible achievement of the set goals.
MES system is used for ongoing control of production processes on the basis of data flowing directly from the machines in a continuous mode.
Such control provides an opportunity to track the progress of production and helps identify any problems or discrepancies with the assumptions, which can have a not inconsiderable impact on the schedule.
