What is automatic identification technology (ADC)?
Automated Data Capture (ADC) technology allows for automatic data capture. For it to work effectively, it must be decided whether it will be supported by barcodes, two-dimensional (2D) codes or RFID.
With the right data storage format and the use of data reading devices, it is possible to quickly decode information and use it in systems that support business logic

What devices support AutoID technology?
Automatic identification technology requires appropriate equipment, such as:
- Label printers – use self-adhesive labels on rolls, allowing variable content (e.g. barcode or 2D) to be printed.
- Barcode readers (code scanners) – read the data stored in the code, sending it to the system. They can operate wired or wirelessly (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Mobile computers (data collectors, terminals), tablets and other devices – make it possible to read codes and allow the operator to communicate with the system.
- RFID infrastructure – allows automatic, contactless reading of data from as far away as a few meters. It is particularly useful in automated logistics environments.

What are the benefits of automatic identification technology?
The implementation of AutoID technology, including RFID, has a number of benefits:
- Eliminate manual reporting of business processes.
- Save time and reduce errors with automatic registration.
- Ability to use data to feed management systems (e.g. WMS warehouse system).
- Increase work efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Where to use AutoID?
The application of automatic identification technology today is almost limitless. Here are selected areas:
- Logistics and warehousing – better management of warehouse space from delivery to storage to shipping.
- Manufacturing – automation of data collection has a positive impact on the quality, speed and accuracy of processes.
- Healthcare – Barcodes enhance the security of patient, drug and device identification.
- Public services – automatic identification supports waste management and mass events, among others.
